Great News! We have new Chime Loan recipients in Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida for the 2020-2021 school year!
In this crazy time of COVID-19, Handchimes offer an alternative to singing and an easy and fun way to teacher “hands-on”music reading to all ages. Chimes can be easily social distanced and can be wiped off easily between classes. Let me introduce you to our current Chime Loan recipients
Florida: Kimberly Oppermann from Reddick Elementary School in Wimauma, FL
Kimberly is an experienced elementary music teacher who had bells and chimes at her former school where she had several performing ensembles. Kimberly was her school’s Teacher of the Year in 2017. She has recently changed schools for the upcoming school year and found out that the school does not have a set of bells or chimes. We are happy that this Area 4 set of chimes will help her introduce her new students to the joy of rinigng and of being in an ensemble. Congratulations Kimberly! We look forward to seeing and hearing what your new students can do.
Georgia: Tammara Shipes from the Academy for Classical Education in Macon, GA
Tammara is a veteran handbell musician and traveled with the Westminster Choir College Handbell group while in college. “There are so many benefits to choir students learning an instrument as they sing. I believe their sight-reading skills will improve as well as their ability to do rhythms.” Tammara plans to use the chimes during her 6th-12th grade choir classes to introduce them to the wonderful art of ringing. Best wishes, Tammara! Happy ringing!
South Carolina: Jack Toler and Stacy Means from Artios Academy for Fine Arts in Greenville, SC
Stacy is a former handbell musician who played in Alan Lohr’s bell ensemble at Bob Jones University. She has a real love for handbells and hand chimes and knows the benefits of teaching music with an easy to learn instrument like chimes or bells. They will be using the Area 4 chimes set to introduce a new instrument to their 6th-12th grade students and to develop a performing ensemble. Artios serves the homeschool population in the Greenville area with many wonderful fine arts programs. We are happy to be able to loan you the chimes to hopefully develop a permanent new area for your students to succeed and become musicians.
Congratulations to these very deserving recipients! We look forward to seeing what happens at these three schools over the next school year. Stay tuned for updates! We hope you will also pass this information along to others that would benefit from having chimes in their schools!
