Chime Loan Program
Annual Application Deadline: March 30th
Handbells and handchimes offer an accessible, engaging way to teach music reading, without the added challenges of fingering, intonation, or embouchure. They are an effective tool for building ensemble skills, teamwork, and group responsibility, while allowing students to experience success quickly and confidently through performance.
The Board of Handbell Musicians of America, Area 4 encourages schools, churches, and community organizations throughout Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and the U.S. Virgin Islands to include handchimes as part of their music education programs.
To support this goal, Area 4 offers a set of handchimes on loan for one academic year, running from August 1 through June 30. Each year, recipients are selected by a committee from applications received by the posted deadline.
